A decision at last...
« on: January 03, 2017, 11:06:15 AM »
I have debated for months and months on how to do my tables and shelving in my sewing room. I think that pipe will be the best method and will allow me to do lower areas for machines and higher for cutting and general work. I have very tall ceilings so this will be an excellent way to add shelving.

I also think that I'm on the lookout for a nice slab of granite for a dining table. I was going to use treadle bases but I think this will support more with less work.

Some of the items are just plain bottom end ugly but some show real potential.

They look pretty good! You can dismantle them to in the future if needed and move them around. Good choice!

This idea might be the best way to go in my basement.  All I need is the pipes and clamps.  I have tons of wood that can be repurposed.

For storage I'd use fencing. There are not as many fastener options but the cost would be substantially less.

fencing? example?
My DIL used pipe to put up shelf in her bathroom and has since then built a great looking stand in their front room for their large tv. She made it fairly shallow as the space she had to work with wasn't very wide. It looks great.
I think you'll like your new storage units! Will watch for pictures!....but with your shoulders will you be able to put them up yourself or will need to get help to get them done? Best of luck!

I've seen these shelves and liked them.
They would be strong.
Dh made me some shelves in one of the bedrooms
several years ago and I um, it had so much fabric
on it - it fell  :o ??? .
Fabric weighs a lot! except on scales...that's all
poundage  :P :P :P

It is a blessing, to be a blessing!

Zipit, you are right for sure that the fence rails would be cheaper. I think I will look into it in the spring if not before. I would definitely love to get my basement better organized.

I am going to use them in the garage. I started working on my plans the other day. I am going to have a workbench with shelves and a cutout of the workbench for the toolbox. This is going to make it so easy to do.
