SHOW YOUR SEWING ROOM PICS

I don't have the energy to go hunt for a thread
that may already have posted pics.
I would be open to a link if someone already
did this.
Here are a few pictures of my room:

Nothing fancy here!  I have to share my sewing room with a Theater Organ, that my Daughter wanted, (that was 2 years ago)!  I have tried to give it away with no luck also.  When I use my mid-arm, I have to pull it out to the middle of the floor, and I also have to share with my Husband for his gun cabinet.   Oh, and the filing cabinet under the stack of quilts in the corner. So here it is!

;D lol, I love it!  :-*

Just goes to show you don't have to have a whole big
room to use the talent God gave ya. Of course my
favorite part is the stack of quilts.
Your room is ever so much neater than mine, Sue.

Here goes . . . my sewing room is also our main entry, living room, dining room, music room, and playroom.  It's a room that works hard!  Other than some Lego dodging, I wouldn't change a thing.  I have good lighting, I can spread a top out on the floor and check it out from the stair landing to get a "big picture" view, and best of all, I have the best of company when the kids are playing while I sew.

My stash is in the linen closet up in the hallway and my books are on a shelf in my bedroom.  My sewing cabinet has boxes that contain notions, thread, and UFOs.  The basket to its left has finished tops and a few small quilts. Sometimes the Legos get totally out of hand, but the boys are pretty good at leaving me a walking path so I can safely get from my machine to the ironing board and back without injury.

I didn't think of that!  But it could just be the case!   The stack of quilts and also there is a stack by the book shelves with the gun cabinet it it, is only a fraction that I have made in 21 years of quilting.  I have given so many away, and of course my kids have pilfered a few over the years!  As far as clean....I just cleaned it good yesterday! LOL  My favorite part is the Bay windows in front of my one machine for watching the wild life.  My treadles are in the Living room and one in our bedroom.  Yes, you don't need a lot of room, as I have a grand total of 964 feet, and that would include closets, space for the water heater, and furnace.

964 feet...I'm gonna have to stop complaining
about my 1040 but that's only a difference of
76 feet. Squared up it's 19 feet.
I have 19 more feet.
Yes, I am going to have to think about not
complaining, lol.
(the real problem is having too much stuff, lol.)
My maternal grandmother was a like-on-tv
hoarder and my mother, although much improved,
still has heavy hoarding tendencies.
So, I have this monkey from my genes....

cornie, love your house too!
I used to make do with just a corner in an 8'
room.
Over the years, especially after the kids married,
I have just gone hog wild and gotten spoiled  ;)
I can see where the kids have afforded you some
real estate to clomp through to the ironing board.
Funny how we all borrow each other's phrases  ;D

Mousie, my Mom would have been considered a hoarder.  She grew up during the depression, and if she though she could reuse something down the road, it got saved. It drove me nuts as a kid, as there were always stacks of this and that all over the place.   I always wanted to just go in there and get rid of it all! But growing up when ever we helped with the house work, it was move this stack to dust, just to move another....I was so frustrated!  So I kind of go the other way, and not including my quilting stuff, but all other things, if it hasn't been used in a year, that means it most likely won't be so out it goes!  My Daughter as we speak (type) is moving from a 2,500 sq ft home to a mobile home the same size as ours!  They are moving to Buffalo Texas, and getting out of the rat race of the Houston area.  Even though it has been kind of hard on her, she said at the same time it feels like freedom to get rid of just stuff. She said she has found stuff she bought and never even taken out of the package!  Her Husband will have to go back though every two weeks, as he works two on and two off. So he won't be completely out of it...but they said even though they are whipped as they packed two trailers and two pickups yesterday, and moved them today (it is about 250 mile trip) it feels so much better already. They have 8 acres of all woods.

lol, I dream, daydream that is...of buying a new
home and only taking exactly what I really need.
In 2000 we moved into my db's mobile home,
a single wide and we did just that...took only what
we really needed.
We were trying to sell this home.
We were not able to sell, but we did updates on
the living room, bathroom and kitchen. It was so
nice to be living somewhere else and this house
had been emptied so it was a pleasure to do the
work.
It was also a pleasure to live at my brother's house
without "stuff".
You know why they call it stuff? it's short for stuffing,
lol.
(it's a mousie definition)
I keep working at downsizing and on days when I haul
"stuff" to the donation place it's very gratifying.
Your a smart cookie, Sue  ;)

Well here's mine...its cram packed. Excuse the mess! I'm working on getting ds' cw quilt finished and have two I'm cutting out. A neat quilter I am NOT!
When we built onto our house dh had envisioned this part of our bedroom as a sitting area/office for him/vanity for me. Its roughly including the window 10x14. So a decent sized space. I wish it was 2x as big.  ;)
But it gets the job done and if it was bigger I'd just fill it with more machines. First area is my Davis NVF....I use this one to machine quilt and do bindings, then is my White Rotary. She is my piecing machine. Quietest treadle I have ever heard. My ironing board and fabric and my cutting station is beside my White behind my chair. The machine in the window area is a 15-91 that I want to learn to do free motion on. My design wall is a curtain that separates the "bedroom" from my sewing. It works pretty good as a design wall the only thing is I must use pins.

I love that everyone has painted walls!  I so want to paint mine, but it is not an easy job. When we painted the living room and all the way down the West wall to include the hall way and the main wall of the kitchen, it was a pain. We had to use OIL based Kiltz on them first, in order to get the paint to stick to that darn stuff they love to put up in mobile homes.  Then we were able to use a water based paint.  But we did all that before the new flooring went in also, and I just know I would get it on the carpet somewhere!

My whole HOUSE is 960 sq feet, and my sewing room is a glorified closet shared with all the storage, like the tub of winter clothes, another of extra bedding, 3 saddles, and other assorted items I can't put in the shed outside.

That is what I meant by my comment up above, the 964 sq feet is my whole house! Not my sewing room!

Next time, just lightly sandpaper those wall panels and the paint will stick just fine. Been there, done that, 10 years and counting.

lol...a bomb in a shoebox  ;)
I'm gonna have to remember to use that  ;D
I love all the new pictures you guys!
Stewy don't worry about your "stuff". Nobody
else's stuff bothers me one bit, just my own.
Do what I did, lol, take the "best" pictures.
I don't want ppl thinking a pack-rat sews in
there  ??? instead of a cute mousie ;)
I have some cute stuff to make me feel better,
lol  ;D
I love seeing all the ways ppl come up with to
dig in and use a space, clutter and all.
The old machines, the stash, the diy design
walls, quilts or quilts in the making...it's all
great.
I mean Einstein was a genius and look at his
hair. He probably ran his hands through it
while coming up with all those ideas.
To me a very busy place looks busy, not like
June Cleaver cleaning fairies just left.  :D

Mousie, you do have a way with words! LOL I didn't show you everything. Like the side shelves in my closet, LOL, it looks like a tornado went off in there. As long as no one tries to clean it up, I can usually find what I want.  And I didn't show ya the stacks of finished quilts in 2 other closets. Or the UFO baskets LOL . Or the FQ's in the chest in the dining room, OMG I have a problem...... so much fabric & no time to use it all. Think it's time to go pet some fabric.......
