Christmas Quilt
« on: December 31, 2016, 05:03:47 PM »
Don't remember if I posted this or not, I know I didn't after it was quilted.  I gave this to my daughter-in-law and my son told me thank you, she didn't even say a word, so hopefully it will be appreciated.  I wonder about folks that are so self centered and are takers and don't know the joy of a giver.  She had wanted a celtic design and that's as close as I came to it and working full time.....

your son is a good guy.
You did your best.
I have bought fabric...I mean all the fabrics
for a whole bed sized quilt just to have ppl
say, "Oh, our room is not that color anymore."  :o
It was a lot of work and you did it bc you are
a lovely person.
Hopefully you ddil will realize that soon.

Wow! That is simply gorgeous! Love the celtic look. Christmas is an overwhelming time. I believe the appreciation comes later.

TCharlie, I know exactly how you feel...my son always wants a quilt when he comes up from Texas, but lately I just haven't done it.  He loves them, but that is the last I see of them. Other Family goes to visit and they say too, they never see my quilts in their house.  I know her too well, they just don't fit in with her decor!  Lord only knows what happens to them!?  I love yours by the way!

At least your son thanked you, but, unfortunately in this day and age, manners seems to have gone by the wayside.  You did a beautiful job on the quilt, and I do hope that your daughter-in-law appreciates the time and expense that goes into making a customized quilt.

It's beautiful.   I myself have given up expecting thank you.  Most people just equate quilts with Wal-Mart Chinese quilts.   After the number I've given I just send them where the Lord tells me the person needs it and if they don't comment oh well.    Know you made it with love and that's enough.

Beautiful quilt and it sure isn't easy making any quilt and working.  And a huge quilt at that.  Maybe she is just shy and will come around to realize the work and love put into it.

Beautiful quilt! Sorry about the manners.  Some people don't have a clue to the work that goes into a quilt.

Nice cover, but she is not shy.  They have been married for 7 years now, so trust me, I know her ways.  DIL's are either sweet or mean........let you think which one I got.

Same thing here.  One of my very first quilts was made for a DIL, in her favorite colors and I was so proud of getting it done and a pretty good job too, if I do say so myself.  Where did she put it? In the trunk of the car.

Same here, I thought I had a great one, but the true colors came shining through, when i told her that my Husband and me, and their Aunt and Uncle were getting too old to try and keep up with babysitting Twins.  They did it to me one time while up on vacation, the Boy's were 8 months old. Suppose to be for an hour, 2 max...I gave in....and they were gone for 8 hours!  Not even enough diapers, and almost ran out of formula.  That did it for me.  So since we all say No now, we are definitely treated different.   But I do have a really Great Son in Law!!

I had all boys, so it's a challenge to see them, and we all live in the same area.  When their dad got sick and had surgery, I called them each and told them and said this is your one and only call, you want to know more, you will make next move.  The two older boys have been married over 20 years, youngest 7 years, so I have had time to adjust and let go.
