This swap is now a 2 month swap & cohosted by dublb & shyleigh.
This swap is open to all skill levels of quilters. Newbies are encouraged to play! This is open to all of our International friends too! We all just want to have fun, besides, it’s a great way to practice a new technique, use your stash and make new friends.
Please read through ALL of the information below prior to signing up.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.....there are a lot of us here to help. Remember, this is a FUN...no stress, no worries swap....just lots of good times with new friends. I am sure we will all receive a beautiful quilt, made with love in every stitch!! Here we GO!!
DOLL QUILT SWAP GUIDELINES
• SIZE: from 12” x 12” to 24" x 24"...any size or shape in between. If your finished quilt ends up a little larger, smaller, longer, shorter, rectangular, wonky, etc...no worries. The quilt police will NOT come hunt you down!
MATERIALS: natural fibers/cotton, wool, linen, something that you would like to receive.
EMBELLISHMENTS: Feel free to use them if you wish, if you choose not to, that’s fine too! Use your imagination and just have fun.
CONSTRUCTION: Pieced, appliqued, yo-yo, whole cloth; quilted by hand or machine and bound, except for crazy quiltswhich are traditionally tied.
LABEL: Everyone loves a label, so it is recommended that you add a label to the back/or creatively to the front of your quilt. You can even just sign the back with your name and the date if you are more comfortable doing that. Just think 100 years from now someone might look at your quilt and wonder who made it and when?DO include a note with your quilt that includes your screen name so that your partner can thank you. I think it is a nice gesture if you would take the time to leave positive feedback to thank your partner for the quilt you receive.
PARTNERS: This will be a secret swap. I will assign you a partner and you will make a quilt for them. You might want to do a quick search on the QH and read some of their posts so that you know a little bit more about them. It is NOT a swap per se, your partner will, in all probability be making a quilt for someone other than you.
DUE DATE: The deadline for all quilts to be mailed out is the last day of the second month (March 31st), unless that happens to fall on a Sunday. Confirmation is required on all packages, with the exception of our International shipments.Quilts may be sent earlier and this can alleviate late shipments when life interferes with our plans. If you are mailing to an international partner it can take a couple of weeks for theirs to arrive. Please take that into consideration and try to mail early. Please send me a PM to let me know when you SEND also when you RECEIVE your quilt! There will be a swap every other month. If you don’t have time this time, maybe you can plan on joining next time.
COMMUNICATION: There is nothing worse than expecting to receive a cute little quilt and getting nothing. If for any reason you cannot meet the deadline or you need to drop out, please let me know ASAP. If you communicate any setbacks with me I can make sure things work out favorably for you and your partner with no hard feelings. If we lose track of you, I will send you an email to your regular addy. If you don’t respond back within a week, I will call you. It is only to help out...I'm NOT the quilt police! Also, in an effort to make this a fun and stress free swap, it is imperative that you acknowledge receipt of your DQ when it is received. IMHO and barring rare freaks of nature or computer death, if you can get to the mailbox to get your package, you can get to your computer to let us all know that it has been received. It is stressful on the sender, who has spent a great deal of time making the quilt, to wonder what happened to it after it is delivered. When it goes unacknowledged, we tend to fear that it has fallen into the wrong hands being delivered to the wrong address. By signing up for this swap you are agreeing to this requirement.
SIGN UP: Sign up begins today and ends January 30th at midnight. I’ll assign partners by the first of February. To sign up, please send me (shyleigh) a PM, as I might miss your response to this thread. The pm should include your name (board and real name) snail mail addy, PHONE # and regular your EMAIL addy. The phone # and email addy are for MY use only and won't be forwarded on to your partner. However, I must have this information for you to be able to play. Also, if you are willing to send international, please let me know. I’ll publish a list prior to the deadline and you need to make sure your name is ON that list. (I occasionally make a mistake). At times, due to unforeseen circumstances, I may need a "quilt angel" to step up and help on short notice. If you are able to do so I will keep a list of those willing to help.
Sometimes people choose to send other little goodies along with the quilt. This is OPTIONAL and in NO way required.
Feel free to post progress pics on this thread. It makes it more fun for all involved to see what is going on. We all love sneak peeks! Chatter is always encouraged too. OK girls and guys....Happy Stitchin' & let's have some fun!!
