Some elderly ladies were wanting to learn to hand quilt many years ago. They were begging for a quilt top and no one had or could come up with one. So I made a twin top for them to learn on. Sadly there were about 6 ladies involved and now only one is left. They died off one at a time. The one left is mid 90's and has given her family some scares with her health in the past 2 years. I asked if I could remove the quilt top from the church basement and find someone to finish it and she told me emphatically NO! She would finish what she started. (She's quite the character!)
So this is what I received today. I will have a label custom made and call it my Church Legacy Quilt with their names and 2015 on it.
The hand work is not the absolute best as these were 70-90 year old ladies some who never enjoyed sewing in the first place. And the eyesight was questionable in most of them as well. But I vouch for the fact that I don't hand quilt and they surely did a much better job than I would ever do!
