How to quilt tumbling charms?
« on: November 18, 2016, 02:26:18 PM »
I am going for a very soft serene pastel quilt.  I want to quilt it by hand either big stitch or classic small stitches. I need ideas. I think it is a little flat and boring and I want to add some character without taking away from its calm. I was thinking maybe hearts in the charms and vines on the background. Do you have a better idea? The colors did not translate too well. It is pink, blue, lavender and green on a yellowish-cream background.

well, I don't know a lot about quilting,
but your idea sounds good to me.
Hearts and vines are soothing things
to me.
The vines suggest a calm, peaceful
meandering this way and that and
hearts are always a soft thing.
At least that's my take on them.
I love cottagey and I think it's going
to be a pretty quilt.

It is a blessing, to be a blessing!
Quilters are warm ppl.

I'll be watching this one. I made a tumbling charms out of Christmas charm packs. I have yet to quilt it. It's a queen size. I think I used 4 charm packs to make it.  I was thinking a rose & vine all over panto. That would fit with the cottage look.
Tn girl, just trying to get home

I think this would be wonderful as a Christmas quilt! I used 3 packs of charms and it is the size for a nap on the couch. If I were doing a panto, I think that would be lovely. I have already sandwiched it for hand quilting. I may do roses rather than hearts ... Or both.

My first thought was flowers in the charms and vines running through the background color.  Your heart idea would be cute too.
