Got this thread cabinet at an auction.  Has 428 spools of Samoilov Inez (?) threads.  Can't read the label.

Had a wooden front, didn't like that I couldn't see the thread so went and got a piece of plexi glass.  Cut to size and then drilled a hole for the new knob.  Love how it turned out

Those don't show up very often, so guess you are one lucky person.  That is a real beauty of a cabinet.

I hope you saved the wooden door. That antique is probably worth a lot more than you gave for it.

What a great find.
Looks like it may be made to sand up on end with the purple on the bottom and the teal on top.
Do you think those front ridges are made to keep the spools from falling out if turned vertically.
I also hope you saved the door.
Thanks for showing us.  Now we can all be jealous.   :)

I agree about keeping the door.  Our kitchen table is probably over a hundred years old, has  6 leaves that store under the table in a pull down door front.  When it is all the way open, which is rare, but I always thought it should have a pedestal in the middle.  Sure enough one day I asked DH about it, He said they had the table up to the family Cabin for years and his Dad hated the pedestal in the middle of the fancy 4 heavy claw feet, and actually took it to the dump.  I was just sick when I heard the story!

You are right about the orientation of the cabinet. It would have come from an old fabric or general store, likely.

The picture posted sideways,  :(  It is a nice cabinet and I did save the door, yippee.  Can stand it up behind the cabinet and won't get damaged that way.  Thank you for all the info, there is nothing written/stamped on it.  Each spool has a number and they started at 37 so me thinks there is another cabinet, or more, like this somewhere.
