In memory of my father a gunner on a Liberty ship ( merchant marine ship) carrying ammo during W W II . The young man standing by the memorial is my DS USCG, stationed in Ashtabula just below the memorial.
Sue what a great pic. What dedication from so many who were so young. Many 16 and 17 year Olds lied and served.
My brother was in the Army Signal corp. WWII, my sis was in the Spars, womens corp for Coast Guard also during WWII. both of my husbands were in the Navy, Korean war, first husband on a Destroyer, ship hit by ground fire once. My second husband was Naval Air, also saw service in Korea. My two older grandsons served in our ongoing war, one in the Army, four deployments, now PTSD, and one in the Navy, did not see overseas duty.
My Dad was a captain in the tank corps in North Africa and Italy.
