I took this pic when the 765 was in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Sept and was pleasantly surprised when the Motorcycle unit arrived

I love the pictures you take of the trains and such. This one was awesome. Now I know where they post pictures that are turned in, I can peek.
The only trains we see here in central TExas are the ones pulling those ugly cars. LOL
No that you are here, catch up and post....:)

We have a scenic train that goes through the Cuyahoga National Park every Wed through Sunday.  I've been here 8 1/2 years and I still haven't ridden on it yet.  We have so many trains coming through my city carrying everything.  And of course I can sometimes hear the whistle.

I'm in Cuyahoga Falls Summit county.  I wish it was here all the time instead of in Fort Wayne, Ind.  What city do you live in?

I like seeing your train pics.  Did you know I use to work for C&O which then became the Chessie System.  YEPPERS!

I never saw trains in NH except for Amtrak that I would take to Boston but since Nashua didn't have a train station I would have to drive 18 miles to get it in Lowell.  Here there are so many trains.  I think they are mostly CSX here.  What did you do for work on the trains?  When I can I'm going to be a volunteer with the Scenic Railroad that runs through the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

I like the whistles....we live in the country but about 9 miles away is a track where one comes thru every so often and it's usually a long one carry lots of cars.....WE can hear it out here....no city noise to block it.
I am currently trying to find a nice train trip for dh and I....
Most you have to go many states away to start and the close ones are places we've already been.
So that will be a challenge for me....
I'll get back to it soon.
Granbury has an old train depot and the Tarantula train, funny name right? Goes thru and gives rides once a year...

For train lovers check out the one from either Cass or Elkins WV.  Wonderful trips and there are holiday trips for the family, Halloween and Christmas.  http://www.cassrailroad.com/

And these go past my WV home! http://mountainrailwv.com/choose-a-train/durbin-rocket

The Durango to Silverton CO. is a real thriller, through such gorgeous scenery too.  Did that one twice when we lived in CO.

Yep, those train whistles are really nice except if they are about 40 yards away from the house!  YIKES!!!  Then the windows will rattle, and the sound of the wheels on the tracks make a high pitched sounds that cuts all the way through to the bones!  Oh, and because they are so loud you can't hear a thing.  Now don't get me wrong.  I LOVE the sound of far away train whistles -- absolutely LOVE it.  Just not so much in love with them when the train is coming out of a tunnel with its whistle blaring and wheels shrieking on the tracks.  Nope.  No love there!  LOL

Several years ago when I was in Alaska, I took a train from Fairbanks to Anchorage.  It was an eight hour trip.  Beautiful scenery along the way.

Loved watching the Railroad Alaska program, all the hustle bustle to clear the avalanches off the tracks bfore the train comes into sight, get the dead moose off the tracks before the train comes, haul the dead car someone abandon on the tracks. and you get the message... They get them all cleared "just in time", but it still is fun to watch.

Someone just got killed here on the Scenic Railroad tracks.  She was in the restaurant on the side of the tracks and ran out because of a fight between a man and a boy and even though the crossing guards were down and plenty of people warning her she didn't make it across the tracks.  And that was in the daytime.  Just awful
